Several times, Mexico has been pointed as one of the richest countries in vegetable composition (several authors coincide on estimating more than 30,000 existent species in the territory), however, such information is not enough in order to understand the importance of our country as source of phytogenetic resources, because, in agreement with Cuevas (1991): "The only plant existence is not enough to consider it useful. From an anthropocentric point of view, it is only by the intervention of the intellect and human experience as plants acquire their satisfactories character, no matter if they are strictly physiologic or derived of their cosmovision."

For the previously said, take importance the Mexico cultural wealthiness, which is represented by more than 56 indigenous towns, whose deep wisdom has allowed them to create, conserve and purify a great amount of vegetables resources (which today benefits great part of the mankind); an, example of this constitutes more than 40 races of corn, whose genes continue being the basis of breeding programs in several countries.
