Actually, the accelerated lost of plant genetic diversity (wild and domesticated material), is a growing problem in the world. In Mexico, where perennial rainforest occupied more than 10% of its surface, today there are only remains of this vegetation: 0.5%, being very probable (if we don't do something) that in the 2000 year there won't be more than very little areas, designated specifically for functioning as biological reserves and this only if crystallizes the actual conservation efforts (Rzedowski & Equihua, 1978).

We have chosen perennial rainforest for being an example of the problem about accelerated lost of plant germplasm, because this is an ecosystem where is represented the most diversity, although, it is very probably the situation before refereed can be generalized to the rest of plants present in Mexico.

Additionally to this problem, in our country it is registered another one heavier: the lost of ancestral cultures, a phenomenon with deep repercussions if it is considered that the way by vegetal resources are perceived, classificated, handled and used, depends on last instance of the knowledge and the attitude owned by human groups for confronting environmental conditions.

Based on the last, we considerate important more meditation around this postulate:

"While it doesn't be detected and understood the factors that in a specific way participate in the conception about a plant conjunct as util elements of nature (resources), it is not possible to determinate the necessary basis for the adequate researching, improving and conservation of them."
